On October 8, the SI-2701150, a 15MW onshore wind turbine independently developed by Sany Heavy Energy, was successfully hoisted in Tongyu, Jilin, China, breaking two global records for the largest single-unit capacity and the largest impeller diameter of hoisted onshore units.

SI-2701150 is a heavyweight product built on the 12.X-16.X MW platform and debuted at the 2023 Wind Energy Exhibition. The design life is 25 to 30 years. The impeller diameter of SI-2701150 is 270 meters, the blade length is 131 meters, and the maximum wind sweeping area is 57,256 square meters, equivalent to the size of 8 football fields. The larger wind sweeping area brings stronger onshore wind capture capabilities, and the annual power generation of a single unit can meet the annual electricity consumption of 160,000 households.

Cutting-edge technology of the onshore "giant"

The design of SI-270150 meets international standards, achieves full life cycle reliability, and applies advanced technology. Lightweight design and intelligent control load reduction technology reduce the overall load of the unit and the difficulty of long-distance transportation on land. The transmission system includes a double tapered roller bearing integral main shaft support system, which helps to ensure high load-bearing capacity and high stability. In addition, relying on the well-proven dual-box transformer top-mounted technology, the cable usage and land acquisition costs are reduced to create a highly economical wind power product.

As the first company to release an onshore 15MW wind turbine, Sany Heavy Energy always puts safety and reliability first, relying on a large number of multi-level tests to fully demonstrate the technical feasibility and long-term reliability of the unit. At the same time, the test data is used to feed back the optimization and iteration of the design, correct the digital simulation model, and shape the "reliable" gene from the source. The prototype of the 15MW wind turbine will start a one-year-long hanging operation test in the test wind farm to fully verify the reliability of components and the whole machine in actual working conditions.

The successful hoisting of the onshore 15MW wind turbine is a milestone in Sany's development in the large-megawatt field, and another milestone in the development of large-scale wind turbines in China. In the future, SANY Heavy Energy will continue to promote technological innovation with new quality productivity, build highly reliable and highly adaptable intelligent units, and assist in the high-quality development of global wind resources.
